Century College 8.12.0.1 College Displays The use of display materials such as signs, posters, bulletin boards, television monitors, electronic message boards, easels, and posting strips is necessary to inform students, staff and faculty of coming events or activities and serves an important function as internal communication on the campus. The following regulations pertain to displays at Century College: · Materials posted should have an obvious end date displayed either through an event date or by printing “Please display until xxxx”. Displays should not be posted longer than two weeks without prior approval from one of the following: the Associate Dean of Student Life, the Director of Campus Activities, the Assistant to the President or the Assistant to the Vice President of Finance and Administration. · The student, organization or staff member posting any materials is responsible for the removal of all materials within two business days. · It is not permitted to remove, deface or post over other materials that are displayed. Questions should be directed to one of the following: the Associate Dean of Student Life, the Director of Campus Activities, the Assistant to the President or the Assistant to the Vice President of Finance and Administration. · Century College materials should include Century College’s affirmative action statement; the short version is: Century College, an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer and educator, is a member of the Minnesota State College and Universities System. ‘All campus’ event materials should also address accessibility issues and include the statement, “ This document is available in alternative formats to individuals with disabilities by calling 651-779-3354 or 651-773-1715 TTY. · Organizers of Century College events should have a room reservation confirmation prior to displaying promotional materials. Contact the Assistant to the Vice President of Finance and Administration. · It is recommended that all materials posted on surfaces other than bulletin boards or posting strips are secured with masking tape. Any damage done that is a result of other methods of posting will be incurred by the responsible party. · Any type of display that is not defined in this policy must receive approval through one of the following: the Associate Dean of Student Life, the Director of Campus Activities, the Assistant to the President or the Assistant to the Vice President of Finance and Administration. · Displays shall not impede or obstruct the use of hallways or other public spaces, and shall be in accordance with all state fire codes. · The college reserves the right to remove any materials violating regulations set forth in this policy or if in the opinion of the College, the display would subject the College to a claim by a third party or it is in violation of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board policies or federal or state laws. Bulletin Boards There are three categories of bulletin boards-“College Event”, “Open Board” and “Department Boards” : 1. College Event- Any Century College related materials may be placed on any bulletin board labeled “College Event” on East or West campus without prior approval. The size of the materials is limited to 11x 17” or smaller. 2. Open Board- Any Century College related materials may be placed on any bulletin board labeled “Open Board” on East or West campus without prior approval. Any outside agency may request approval to display information on the “Open Boards” through one of the following-the Associate Dean of Student Life, the Director of Campus Activities, the Assistant to the President or the Assistant to the Vice President of Finance and Administration. The materials for outside agencies will be stamped. See also Policy 8.10.01 Solicitation on Campus. The size of the materials is limited to 11x 17” or smaller. 3. Department Boards-Boards that are either labeled with a department or organization name are closed to other uses. See also, Policy xxxxx. Posting Strips Strips are available on East and West Campuses located on some doors, hallways and stairwells. They are for any Century College related materials. The size of the materials is limited to 11x 17” or smaller. Prior approval is not required. Walls and Pillars Century College related posters and flyers, including those larger than 11x17” may be placed on specific walls throughout East and West Campuses. Tape materials only on cement walls. Prior approval is not needed, however if there are concerns about the placement or size, the responsible party will be contacted by the Associate Dean of Student Life or Director of Campus activities for discussion. Entryway Door Sign Holders The entryway doors have specific sign holders on each upper panel. It allows for up to two different flyers. Scheduling is done through the Director of Campus Activities. Signs hung in the upper door panels that are not in the holders, will be removed. Signs not larger than 11x 17” may be taped in the lower panels without prior approval or scheduling. Displays on entryway doors are limited to College Related materials only. Table Displays Table displays are available for Century College related materials up to 8.5 x 11”. Up to two different flyers may be displayed. Scheduling is done through the Director of Campus Activities. Easels and stands There are easels and stands available for flyers and posters throughout East and West campuses. They are of various sizes. Unless they have a specific designation, they may be used for Century College related materials. They must be scheduled through the Director of Campus Activities. Bathroom Frames Certain bathrooms on both East and West Campuses that have wall and stall frames are available for Century College related displays. Scheduling and flyer placement is done through the Director of Campus Activities. Parking Lots No materials may be placed on vehicles in the Century College parking lots. TV Monitors Century College related announcements may be displayed on the campus monitors by contacting Kim Peterson, title xxxxxx two weeks in advance. Electronic Sign Century College related announcements may be displayed on the Century Avenue Electronic display by emailing highwaysign@century.edu two weeks in advance.
